$2580 raised!
Not too long ago, art/media director at Pavement Press, Scott Toepfer, started his most ambitious project. And with it came fundraising, which is probably the most daunting task involved with such an endeavor.
The idea was simple…get a bunch of small time motorcycle riders together, and set out across the unoccupied spaces of the American West…and photograph it. To find out what it was about these places that have attracted sojourners and vagabonds for generations, and re-imagine the stories told to them as children.
Well, after a couple thousand miles, one destroyed motorcycle, and a couple of near miss tragedies…they nailed it.
Scott went to Kickstarter.com months ago to try and fund the printing of a book that would house the collection of photographs he had taken during his time on the road, and over the past 2 months has really been promoting this thing to hell and back, promising prints in exchange for donations. The project circled the blog-o-sphere, and in the end, Scott raised $2580 dollars towards the printing of his book. It is important to mention that he raised over twice his original goal, and now has to print twice as many books to cover the demand!
You can check out the project, as well as an initial edit of photographs to be included in the book, at ‘It’s Better In The Wind.’ There you will find links to the production blog, out take imagery, video clips, interviews and publicity…everything you could want to learn about the project.
You can still donate directly through the website if you are interested in a book or a print.
